Welcome to Montrai! These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Montrai mobile application, web application (montraipersonalfinance.com), and any related services (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Montrai Inc. / j.a.t. Creativestudios ("us", "we", or "our").
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the terms, you may not access the Service.
1. Eligibility & Accounts
- Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years of age, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account.
- Minor Access: Minors may access "Collaborative Shared Spaces" strictly under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who holds the primary account. Minors are restricted to view-only and local transaction logging privileges.
- Account Security: You are responsible for safeguarding the password or credentials you use to access the Service and for any activities or actions under your password.
2. Not Professional Financial Advice Disclaimer
IMPORTANT: Montrai is a Personal Finance Management (PFM) tool and an AI-driven educational assistant. Montrai does not provide professional financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. All automated insights, debt payoff strategies (Snowball/Avalanche), compound yield estimations, and budget recommendations are for informational and educational purposes only. You should consult a qualified financial professional before making any major financial decisions.
3. Free Service and Optional Rewarded Ads
- No Charges: Montrai does not sell paid plans, subscriptions, or in-app purchases.
- Manual Features: Manual tracking, budgets, goals, debt tools, ordinary cloud sync, exports, notifications, and widgets remain available without watching ads.
- AI Starter Actions: Each verified account receives three lifetime starter AI actions, enforced across devices.
- Optional AI Rewards: After starter actions are used, one completed and server-verified rewarded ad grants one non-transferable AI pass. Spreadsheet AI import uses two AI passes.
- Optional Shared-Space Reward: One ad completed by the owner activates one shared space for 30 days. On expiry, data and membership are preserved read-only until the owner renews access.
- Your Choice: Rewarded ads are never shown automatically. You may dismiss an offer, decline advertising consent, or continue using all manual features.
4. Acceptable Use & Collaborative Spaces
You agree not to misuse the Service. If you create or join a "Collaborative Shared Space" (Family Budget), you accept full responsibility for the data shared within that space. Montrai Inc. is not responsible for any financial data altered, deleted, or exposed by members you invite to your Shared Space via a Space ID.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Montrai Inc. / j.a.t. Creativestudios shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of or inability to use the Service.
6. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action arising from these terms shall be settled exclusively in the courts of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
